I had to hit Ray’s Indoor Bike Park on Saturday for the Grand Re-Opening where Ray brought in some pro riders to serve the free food and shred the park. Steve Romaniuk, Darcy Turenne, Tyler McCaul and a few more were in attendance. Watching them ride and talking to them while they were chilling was great. They were all personable and seemed stoked to be there supporting Ray and the Park. On a side note, Darcy Turenne’s smile is hypnotizing and she’s a super nice person. With her awesome riding and great personality its no wonder why she’s such a popular figure in our sport. I was personally riding really well and the Cove Sanchez is holding up to my hack-like abuse and feeling great. I’m progressing fast on this bike and I can’t wait to get back to Ray’s for more.
The forecast for Sunday was looking amazing and we heard the whispers of the dirt so some of the dudes arranged some shuttles at a local spot. 67 degrees, bright sun and blue skies made for a stoked out day of post season Downhilling. After riding Ray’s on a Hardtail for the last four weekends in a row the big bike felt a bit strange but after a few runs the Cove STD was feeling right again. The Elka Stage 5 shock was once again…shocking. It is fully apparent that Elka has this custom tuning thing down. The back end tracks insanely well and so far it does nothing wrong. The STD with the Stage 5 dares you to hit the nastiest line balls out and just laughs at you at the bottom of the run. I put riding above my journalistic duties but I did manage to grab some stuff for your viewing pleasure. It was pretty cool that we were joined by the Sicklines.com crew while they were out giving the Banshee Wildcard a proper thrashing. The paint on that thing was the raddest orange and it appeared to handle everything well. This was one grin inducing weekend for sure, on to the video.

I was at Ray’s on Saturday. It was cool seeing all of the pros ride and the free food and PBRs made it even better! That place is so rad. Nice video too, that DH place looks decent.

Yep, I’m really liking this setup and that was a great day of riding. The Elka really wrings the last drop of performance out of the already awesome Cove STD. We’ve got to get you on something more to your liking next season! For those of you who don’t know “Mr. Lahey” he’s the one that follows me through the little rock garden in the video, he’s wearing the black Misfits shirt. That rock garden is gnarlier that what it appears to be in the video, still fast and fun though.
