Crank Brothers Multi-17 Tool Review

I can’t remember the last time I was on a ride and wasn’t graced by the presences of this little guy. Everyone I ride with has one and won’t live with out it. The Crank Bros. Multi-17 is a ride saving, fun extending must have.

The Multi-17 is the second in a line of four multi-tools from Crank Brothers. As the name implies, this lightweight tool features 17 tools ranging from hex wrenches to a chain tool. Included in the wide range of sizes is the all important T-25 torque wrench. While this feature may not interest some, it has proved very important myself.

I’ve had the Multi-17 for several seasons now, and have yet to run into any issues with durability or quality. Having used it countless times to remove rotors, brake calipers and stems, it’s still going strong. One of the most common uses I’ve found is for realigning a caliper after I’ve botched a line while riding street trials.

While no multipurpose item in any industry is perfect in every way, this tool proves extra valuable in a pinch on a ride. It’s rather lightweight design fits nicely into your pocket while riding street or into a bag while riding back country. You do have to use a little caution when utilizing the chain tool, as it likes to wander a little off center on heavier wider chains.

At a listed retail of $27 USD, you can find it online for $20 and at that price, it’s worth the investment. Here is a list of spec’s for this tool provided from Crank Brothers website.
