THE Mud Flap

THE’s Mud Flap is a high end variation of the “zip tie a piece of old tube to your fork” method of keeping mud out of your face on sloppy rides. This simple and clean method of installing a mud fender on your bike has been around for awhile and it just plain works. THE has perfected the design and given us a not-so-ghetto looking solution.

The Mud Flap attaches securely to the crown of the fork using two sturdy hook and loop straps and to the fork’s arch using three similar hook and loop straps.

I’ve already had this one out for a ride in some muddy conditions and just like it’s Do-It-Yourself counterpart it does a great job of keeping mud from flinging up into your face.  All of the pictures on this page were taken after this Mud Flap was thrown in the wash following that muddy ride.  I was stoked to see that it came out looking brand new again after taking a tumble in the suds.

THE’s Mud Flap comes in four sizes to fit forks ranging from 100mm to 200mm of travel.  I’m actually running the 200mm version on this 180mm Totem.  This gives me enough length to roll the bottom portion around the arch giving a nice clean look.

So if you like keeping the mud off of your goggles in a way that keeps your sexy rig looking…well…sexy, go out and grab a THE Mud Flap.  You won’t regret it.
